Nothing less than our finest Volca Sample 2 Sample Pack

What makes "Das Sample Pack" for the second generation of the Volca Sample 2 so special?

When we released our most elaborate Sample Pack ever, the Digitakt Sample Pack 1, we soon received requests to adapt it for the Volca Sample 2. To us, it made perfect sense, since we poured everything we learned over the years into one single Sample Pack. It is just a bit better in every aspect.

Since the Digitakt offers loads of memory, we had to overcome the challenge to reduce the file size, while keeping the flavor as juicy as the original.

To adapt it into a Volca Sample 2 Sample Pack, we had to shorten the samples quite a bit. After some trial and error, we managed to squeeze the wild energy into the confined ram of our beloved second generation Volca Sample. If you are interested in a high-quality .wav version of the Das Sample Pack go here

You get two Volca Sample 2 Sample Packs! 254 Samples mapped into two sets, Bank 1 and  Bank 2. 127 Samples each.

This way, you can utilize the RAM of your Volca Sample 2 fully! Each one of the kits is ready to go and perfectly balanced. Powerful sounds, perfectly organized. The Das Sample Pack for the Volca Sample 2 combines the power of two fully-fledged sample kits. So what's the main benefit?

This sample kit for the Korg Volca Sample 2 was created with a clear focus: Get your hype going quick! But how exactly? Multiple Samples for each category:

  • Kicks
  • Snares
  • Hats
  • Claps
  • Percussion
  • Synth Leads
  • Synth Bass sounds
  • Synth Chords
  • Vocals

Within each category, we included three character types of samples. Let's make this clear by looking at one example: The Kicks.

Gold standard

We recorded clean 808 Bass drums. They just do what they are meant to do. We included around 1-2 per bank. The standard is always there, for a reason. Sometimes other elements get the spotlight.

Character

Then we added around 10 Kicks with differing layers. Some with the ambiance that we captured in a huge cellar, some with layers added from a synth. A few outboard pedals for crunch. Some crazy deep, some noisy, some with brutal attacks.

These sounds should get your inspiration going and are so sonically rich , that you can easily use filters and envelopes of the Volca Sample 2 to tweak them to match your jam perfectly. With some samples, it is possible to create a full track, only by using 1 Sound! Try it. You will love it.

Crazy

To push your creative process even further, we included a few "crazy" sounds. Sounds that just smack like hell. Still, we always maintained good tuning. This means, when you add your bassline, it's easy to find a complimenting sound.

In all three categories, we made sure to include sonically balanced sounds and a few that feel more like layers for stacking. No matter what your intended use of the Volca Sample 2 is, we got you covered. This framework is applied to all percussive sounds.

Our samples are processed diligently. We keep the organic qualities and features and leave enough room for you to change the sound to your liking. No over-compression. Never! At the same time solid constant levels. So when choosing a sample while the track plays, you actually hear the sound.

Load a full bank and start squeezing the most out of your Volca Sample 2.

The Synthesizer sounds come from the Moog Mother 32, Behringer Odyssey, Behringer Crave, and the Arturia Micro Freak. Processed with various outboard gear. Such as Tube EQ, Tube Distortion, and modulation FXs. To get more organic characteristics, we did re-amping in a wild venue.

All tonal samples are tuned to note C. This way, you can create melodies and harmonies in seconds without puzzling around what key the samples have and how to integrate them. We keep it simple.

We included Chords in the key of C, each of which has a minor and major version of the same sound. It is up to you to mingle with them and make them your own.

Load the Das Sample Pack. Hit Transfer. Go Nuts.

We created the sounds the way we enjoy using them ourselves. This resonated with a lot of you out there and we are happy to share the final version with you. In many cases, we jam with samples and only select the ones that really make an impact and sonic difference.

The way we approach creating the Sounds for the Korg Volca Sample 2 Sample Pack

Our main goal is to make it our own and unique sound. We rarely record clean sounds. We send them through outboard gear or re-amp them in various locations. Over-processing is not how we roll. Over the years, we learned to keep the organic and dynamic flair alive.

We set them to a given LUFS and make sure none of the samples are clipping and to round it off we also check that there are no unwanted clicks.

What all our Korg Volca Sample 2 Sample Packs have in common?

A unique selection of our own recorded, mixed, and curated samples. All tuned to the key C. Some are noisy some are clinically clean. Not over-compressed, we believe in organic sounds.
